Drilling Rig Pipe Connection

Drill string is a combination of drill pipes and bottom hole assembly (BHA) that will rotate and help to drill the wells. BHA is lowered first thin drill pipes but we cannot run in hole or pull out of hole all the drill string at once because most of the rig capacity are able to handle 90-92 ft of length of drill string at once. That is why the rig crew especially floor hands need to do pipe connection after drilling with one stand is finished, so they need to connect a new pipe to continue drilling.

Moreover, even in tripping out they need to break out stand by stand and one stand is a connection of three joints of pipes all connect together makes one stand of pipe measured 90-92 ft of length.
